The North and the South Nodes, which I explain in more detail in THIS BLOG, entered the signs of Capricorn and Cancer last November, and they’ll be there until May 2020. We’re about halfway through their passages through these signs.
Because it’s a longer transit, we’ll experience the effects and lessons more gradually, but that’s not to say we should be disregarding what the old nodal prof is teaching us.
I already did a VIDEO and ANOTHER BLOG on the significance of this deal, but being six months older and wiser (lol), I wanted to share more thoughts I’ve had on what we’re learning on the south side—through the Capricorn element. Some of my divine downloads, if you will.
The kindergarten basics of what the nodes represent are: It’s what are we being led to and what are we being led away from. In other words, learning to integrate new energy into our minds, bodies, and souls and figuring out how to process and release old energy. Right now the new is emotional maturity, a true home, and a heightened intuition to ourselves and our paths. The old is outdated structures, rules, and toiling.
But there’s an additional element to Capricorn that I’ve been pondering on lately. Capricorn is a cardinal sign, meaning it possesses forward-moving energy. Furthermore, it represents the top of the mountain and great achievements. Capricorn sets its sights high and is determined to plod its way on up, constantly focused on the next step and the next step. Capricorn wants to be the best not because of just who he is as a person, but through what he does and what he’s planning to do next.
So another item on the lesson plan through this transit is releasing our obsession with what’s next… aka the future.
Here’s my not-so-secret secret about the future: It will always be out of your hands.
The future in and of itself is the future. It’s the next moment, next day, next month, next year, etc. etc. You can never get your hands on it, because when you do, it’s the now, and the future continues being… in the future.
Abstracts aside, my point is that, because the future is out of your hands, out of your control, yuor shouldn’t be putting things in it, such as your happiness, joy, and contentment.
Because when you're putting all those things into the intangible future, you're never going to truly have them. You should be holding onto them right here right NOW, feeling them NOW instead, because now is all you have.
What I think the South Node is helping us to heal and move away from is our obsession with summiting that mountain and thinking that we’ll only be happy once we get to the top—we’ll only be happy in the future when we achieve x, y, and z. We instead need to learn to be radically present in the now, making the conscious decision to be happy, joyous, and content NOW with the things that exist.
So far I’ve used the word now 8 times in this article. Not too bad.
Of course none of this is a cease and desist about chasing your dreams and creating an amazing life. It’s a reminder that there will always be something more that you want to achieve, and when you make your happiness contingent on it, you’ll live a hella unsatisfying life.
I for one want to be happy right this minute. I do have a lot of Capricorn in my chart, so not futurizing my happiness is already a challenge for me, but it’s one that I’m working on NOW by choosing joy.
